From "couldn't count to ten" to valedictorian
At five, I couldn't count to ten. I went through remedial classes, speech therapy, and two autism evaluations. What turned it around wasn't working harder. It was learning the way my mind was built to work. That took me from the back of the class to valedictorian at 17 with more than 200 credits, and then through a four-year neuroscience degree in a year and a half.
Here's what I've learned since: most bright kids who struggle don't need more hours, and they don't need another tutor re-explaining the same lesson.
